Dead Cross Bring the Clangor and the Chaos to Brooklyn Bowl

The angry supergroup from Dave Lombardo (Slayer) with vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More) is out on the road supporting their new self titled CD Dead Cross, and played their second show of the tour at Vegas’ own Brooklyn Bowl. The  new album is a hardcore punk visceral assault, and as Patten described to Rolling Stone, “I got a chance to do a pencil-in-your-eye-record”, and Lombardo concurred with “It is one of the most brutal albums I’ve ever done”. The CD was released August 4th on Patton's (and Alternative Tentacles Greg Werckman) label Ipecac Records, and produced by Ross Robinson (who previously worked with Korn, Deftones, Sepultura and Limp Bizkit),  and the first streaming single is  “Grave Slave” (Check it out below).

Dead Cross brought the assault to Vegas, and pummeled the fans with a set that played their self titled release start to finish in entirety, including a punched up rendition of Bauhaus’ “Bela Legosi’s Dead” along with a couple new post CD tunes mixed in. Besides Patton and Lombardo (who previously ‘supergrouped’ it together in metal band Fantômas) Dead Cross includes (Retox) guitarist Mike Crain and bassist Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox) for a punk rooted blasting force of aggression and speed.

Brooklyn Bowl was a perfect setting for  the show, mosh pits opened up as Patton announced the first ‘stage dive’ of the tour as one stealty fan sailed off the stage into the crowd. The show was a blast , and he band looked like they were having a ball, with Lombardo completely pummeling the drums and Patton speeding through lyrics at  top volume, a carefully orchestrated exercise in anger and chaos. This first North American tour continues throughout September, so check the dates below and add it to your calendar,  in ink
