DEAD ANIMAL ASSEMBLY PLANT with SONS OF PROVIDENCE,, DRIFT,, and MADZILLA at THE DIVE BAR LV

It’s been awhile since I have been to The Dive Bar , but this show really got my interest as it featured DEAD ANIMAL ASSEMBLY PLANT, with Sons of Providence, Drift and the debut of Madzilla.

Madzilla is led by David Cabezas on lead guitar and vocals, who we saw perform in Mastiv, a prominent local LV band. Madzilla seems to be a perfect vehicle for him to just let loose and showcase his guitar prowess, and David has always been a very exciting guitar player to see live. He did not disappoint at the Dive Bar, the crowd loved the new band, and Madzilla launched into a serious medley of Metallica songs that really gave David a chance to show the range of his guitar abilities, and the band played a mix of new material and covers. Joining David in Madzilla are Robert Wiggin on drums, Daniel Gortaire on bass, and another really impressive guitar player, David Oliveri. This is a great addition to the local music scene and we look forward to seeing Madzilla again soon.

DRIFT is a hard rocking band from Los Angeles, and with a horror, shock look. The band members were dressed in everything from a creepy skeleton on guitar, to a drummer wearing a gas mask and helmet, a singer in a pilot's helmet, to the bass player also in a gas mask, flack jacket and helmet. Musically this band is really good and watching closely you could tell these are some pretty good musicians behind those masks. They quickly capture your attention and were a fun band to see.

Sons of Providence are a very interesting duo out of Phoenix. Sons of Providence is a very dark, gothic sounding band that played under their own mood setting lighting, and the duo is a drummer and singer playing an upright electric bass. SOP facebook page describes them as a band that represents a "personal darkness, pain, anger, depression and despair". Their sound was just that, and one we really enjoyed.

I have seen the majority of bands with looks like DEAD ANIMAL ASSEMBLY PLANT so I was very curious as to what they would bring to the Dive. I will tell you this, for playing in such a small venue on a bleak Wednesday night I was very impressed at the level of outfits and masks and stage persona this band had. DAAP puts on a quality production show, and in this venue most bands would never attempt. DAAP band describes themselves as down 'n dirty industrial metal, and that's exactly what we got. I really enjoyed this band as they were impressive visually and musically. You can see what this band is all about on their video “Rise With Me” HERE.  I could definitely see an influence of ohGr and Skinny Puppy on this band, and I love the direction that they have taken it.
