NIN 'Wake Up' Vegas with a Sold Out Show at the Joint

NIN takes a one-off between festival gigs for a sold out show at the Joint in Las Vegas

Nine Inch Nails has been on hiatus the last few years, not on the tour circuit since 2014, so when the Hard Rock Hotel announced a show at The Joint (only three weeks in advance) fans scrambled to get tickets to one of the hottest shows of the year. Trent Reznor was joined again with longtime guitarist Robin Fink, drummer Ilan Rubin and bassist/keyboardist Alessandro Cortini, and the big reveal for the few 2017 dates was the addition of legendary producer/keyboardist Atticus Ross for the live lineup of the I Can't  Seem Wake Up Tour -  Atticus has worked with Reznor since 2005's With Teeth, as well as collaborated on movie soundtracks -  the pair winning Grammy, Academy Award and Golden Globes for their film score work on The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The show at the Joint didn't disappoint, fans have waited literally years to see NIN again on a solo arena bill, and the 2017 addition of Ross was a coup that fans may or may not see again, and the mix of NIN's visual and audio sensory overload was spectacular to say the least. The show was a retroscope of the NIN legacy, opening with "Branches/Bones" from the Reznor/Atticus collaborative Not the Actual Events  EP from last year, and reaching back to "Wish" and an fierce extended "Terrible Lie" to tie up the opening three. The newest Add Violence album released summer of 2017 was represented with "Less Than" and "The Background World", and the set included a few surprises - a cover of David Bowie's "I Can't Give Everything Away" reached back into the more obscure Bowie catalogue, but gave a glimpse of the muse he had become, and the show culminated with the slowed down curtain call of "Hurt".

NIN has DAY FOR NIGHT festival in Houston scheduled in December, but thats all on docket the for now. Nine Inch Nails newest EP, Add Violence, is now available. More information at http://www.nin.com.
