JYRKI 69 and MGT with Demon Scissors and The Nocturnal Affair at Beauty Bar LV

JYRKI 69 along with MGT and support from Demon Scissors and The Nocturnal Affair made a stop during thier West Coast Tour at the Beauty Bar in Las Vegas, on a cool night outdoors and under a gloomy night sky. Opening the show was local Vegas band Demon Scissors, a horror themed talented band that always sound amazing when they play. With elaborate costumes and glow in the dark painted bodies Demon Scissors are one of the more visual bands you will seeing playing around Vegas. The Nocturnal Affair, also local to Las Vegas was next, a another very talented dark / goth themed band.

MGT is the initials of lead guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite, who is a British musician and has been the guitarist for a number of rock bands and artists over the last two decades, including The Mission, Tricky, Peter Murphy, New Disease, Spear of Destiny, Theatre of Hate, Mob Research (with Paul Raven of Killing Joke). Joining Thwaite on vocals was Ashton Nyte from the band The Awakening. Also in the band is Richard Vernon who is the long time bass player for the band The Mission, and on drums it was Big Paul Ferguson. The talent in this band is beyond what you would expect, Thwaite is an amazing guitar players you will see and vocalist Ashton Nyte at times reminded you of Peter Murphy, dark / goth music at its best. MGT is a must see on their current tour.

JYRKI 69 from the band The 69 EYES finished out the lineup for the night.. Jyrki hails from Helsinki, Finland, and the influences on Jyrki’s style is readily evident as you pick on touches of Peter Steele of Type O Negative and Andrew Eldritch of The Sisters Of Mercy, as made plain as the middle of the show Jyrki performed the Sisters of Mercy song "This Corrosion". Jyrki's movements and voice on stage also have other influences such as Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and Glenn Danzig, and Jyrki 69 was dressed in tight leather from head to toe as he jumped and moved about the stage. Jyrki 69 played a one hour show and ended around 1:15 am, and for those who did stick around until the finnish (pun intended) in the cold Vegas night were treated to one amazing show.

A big thanks goes out to The Beauty Bar for having the insight to bring such diverse acts like what we have witnessed so far this year, with many more on the calendar this spring and summer to come!
