It has been a few months since MOTOGRATER has played Vegas, and this time they were coming in with a couple of new members... this band has had a long history of turnovers, but all we care about is their performance when they come to town. But first, opening the show was locals DRAUGR, a young hard metal band that shows lots of promise, followed by more locals DIRT HALO, another hard rock / metal band based here in Vegas with great vocals and performance by these guys on this night. FOUND IN FICTION was an interesting band in that they play with 3 members on guitar, vocals and drums, but no bass player, and this band is solid. They have a great vocalist and guitar player and looking forward to seeing these guys again soon.
Now back to MOTOGRATER... the first thing I noticed was the new rhythm section seemed slow, this is a high energy band and the past members were all over the place, but the new female bass player had low energy, and stayed hidden in the back most of the night and rarely came to the front. It may be because she is still getting used to playing with this band, but these guys are known for jumping and moving all over the stage. As usual here in Vegas one of the highlights of the show is when the band launches into their big hit "Down", and when they always call onstage Gemini Syndrome vocalist Aaron Nordstrom, and this night was no exception and Nordstrom was sporting a new shaved head look. James Anthony Legion, vocalist of Motograter, and Aaron trade off lyrics and the fans love it. Motograter is one of my fav bands to see and photograph and always will. Lets hope they can work through this turnover phase and stay on track as one of the best bands playing the smaller clubs today.
