Fremont Street Summer Concert Series Brings Everclear's Summerland Tour to Vegas with Marcy Play

Summer is heating up in Las Vegas, and the Fremont Street Summer Concert Series moved into full swing when 90's alternative rockers EVERCLEAR, MARCY PLAYGROUND and LOCAL H took over the stage for the Summerland Tour . EVERCLEAR lead vocalist Art Alexakis has been bringing The Summerland Tour to Fremont Street for several years now. MARCY PLAYGROUND and LOCAL H are both known for having one major hit that exploded onto the radio scene in the late 90’s. In the case of MARCY PLAYGROUND it was the hit song “Sex and Candy”, and for LOCAL H it was the hit "Bound for the Floor", and those who arrived early to brave the heat this week were definitely motivated to hear those all too familiar songs.

The show kicked off with LOCAL H taking the 3rd street stage, who stole this show and were an exciting band and full of energy for the evening - angry and with attitude. Local H is a duo out of Zion, Illinois consisting of Scott Lucas – guitar, lead vocals, bass guitar and Ryan Harding – drums, percussion, backing vocals, and is best known for their hit song "Bound For the Floor" which was a staple on MTV back in the late 90’s. Local H is meant to be seen live, and were a great addition on the Summerand Tour this year.

EVERCLEAR has a natural summertime sound and is always backed by bands from the 90’s who either are good friends of vocalist Art or happen to fit the genre. EVERCLEAR had early success with songs such as "Santa Monica" and "Father of Mine" before the band went through some turmoil losing several members. A few years later Art decided to put the band back together and tour with new members and hence we now have the annual Summerland Tours. The tour always brings out a packed Fremont street for the lineup, and this year was no exception. Art Alexakis led the band through a mixed set of fan faves and material and put on a fun show for the big outdoor crowd.
