HALESTORM at Fremont Summer Concert Series in Downtown Las Vegas

One of the hottest bands in music today, HALESTORM played a FREE concert on August 25 on the 3rd street stage at the Fremont Street Experience. Halestorm is not the usual type of band Fremont Street books, so it was going to be interesting how the crowd would respond to this band.

The Fans showed in force - about 10,000 in all, and before the band hit the stage the chants of "Hailstorm.., Hailstorm" began, and the crowd was psyched for this show to begin. The band consists of Lzzy Hale on vocals and guitar, brother Arejay Hale on drums, Joe Hottinger on guitar, Josh Smith on bass. Lzzy is a very intense singer who can scream with the best of them in her gravelly voice, and then sing melodic and clear on her softer ballads. Halestorm recently landed its fourth No. 1 song on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart with the song "Uncomfortable", and this also ties the band with The Pretty Reckless for the most #1’s by a female-fronted act.

Halestorm kicked off the show with the song "Uncomfortable" followed by "Mz. Hyde", and the band performed 14 songs in their main set followed by a 3 song encore. They looked like they were having lots of fun, and saluted the huge crowd for coming out and supporting this show. After the final "Here's to Us", a toast was had by the band onstage, followed by the usual pic toss along with drumsticks, and this time drum heads, and many fans captured the precious souvenirs who were near the front, and most refused to leave once the show ended.

There are two more shows left this series with Melissa Etheridge playing on August 31st, and then Sebastian Bach and Ratt on September 29th. A big thanks to Leslie Church for always taking such good care of us when we cover events at Fremont Street and for bringing great FREE concerts to the Las Vegas fans.
