KOMP 92.3 Vegas Homegrown Series with Code ReD Riot, The Dirty Hooks and More!

CODE RED RIOT - THE DIRTY HOOKS - LEAVING SPRINGFIELD - DINNER MUSIC FOR THE GODS - UNDER

KOMP Homegrown Series at HOB, MANDALAY BAY, LAS VEGAS

This was a night all about the locals, and radio station Komp 92.3 brought five great bands together at the House of Blues LV on a busy Saturday night in Las Vegas to showcase local talent. To start off the night, the band UNDER took the stage, an interesting band whose sound was quite experimental at times with hints of an influence by TOOL. I really liked what I heard and hope to see them again playing in the Vegas scene.

All instrumental band DINNER MUSIC FOR THE GODS has been playing Vegas for a long time, and their sound can go from very melodic to a heavy prog sound at the blink of an eye. Normally I catch this band at Vamp’d, but their Homegrown set at the HOB was where you really got to experience what their sound is all about. They are a great band to kick back and just enjoy.

LEAVING SPRINGFIELD has been compared to Local H and Weezer, has been around since 2006 and has played nearly every venue in Vegas. Led by Brent Kessler on lead Vocals, with Matt Norcross on drums and Jim Campbell on bass, Leaving Springfield is a three piece rock band from Las Vegas, NV, who in eight years together have recorded and released three EPs and four full-length CDs. check out their catalog HERE .

The DIRTY HOOKS just got off the road opening for Stone Temple Pilots, and returned home and to the HOB stage to rock this locals show. The experience of being on the road on a major tour showed as they sounded polished and even debuted a new song. This powerful trio has a sound that is a bit punk mixed with some rockabilly and good old rock n roll, and features a female drummer, Jenine Cali who also contributes vocals throughout the show. Along with lead vocalist Bobby McCall, an intense singer / guitarist onstage, and Anthony Ratto also on guitar and vocals - The Dirty Hooks have catchy songs and great stage persona.

The final band of the night was CODE RED RIOT, led by former Otherwise drummer Corky Gainsford, who handles vocal duties for Code Red Riot, and is joined by Jon Wozniak on bass, Adam Fischer on drums and a new face for this show with Chris Iorio (Honor Amongst Thieves) temporarily taking over guitar duties for CRR member Taz Azure, who was away. Corky is an impressive drummer, and equally impressive frontman, moving nonstop across the stage and jumping off the drums, giving a high energy in your face set that the crowd loved.

Code Red Riot is promoting their new song and video "Bulletproof", and Corky explained the video was shot using a cell phone - it starts out in downtown Las Vegas and then heads out to a desert junkpile, where Corky proceeds to take a baseball bat and then a sledgehammer to everything within range. This is really a great song and video to go with it, and you can check it out HERE !

It was another fantastic KOMP 92.3 Homegrown series, and great to see so many fans come out and support an all-locals show. We look forward to more KOMP shows at HOB throughout the new year.
