BABYMETAL: Queens of the Metal Galaxy at the HOB LV

Are you ready to headbang!!?? BabyMetal floored a packed House of Blues in Las Vegas with their J pop metal fusion, led by SU-METAL and MOAMETAL, singing, dancing and spinning across the stage while a masked and grisly Kami Band held down a brutal soundtrack. The Japanese pop goddesses are barely old enough to get in the club, but they are taking on not only Vegas, but the Galaxy on their world tour.

In 2016, BabyMetal became the highest charting Japanese band ever with the release of their album Metal Resistance, and their newest album Metal Galaxy (just out this month) is rocketing up the charts, and their ‘kawaii (cute) metal’ is here to stay. Four songs from the album have been released as digital singles, with "Distortion" (featuring Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz) , "Starlight", and "Elevator Girl" charting within the top four on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart.

The Vegas show started with a fast paced opener, “Megitsune”, a tale of the vixens, with SU-METAL posing with a fox mask, and a huge BabyMetal banner on the backing video screen. Su and Moa are joined by a third dancer, Riho Sayashi, for a choreographed trio on stage. The sing-a -long “Elevator Girl” (an English version for the US crowds) got the crowd jumping screaming along, although many in the crowd screamed along in Japanese to some of the Metal Resistance songs, especially the hot “Gimme Chocolate!” that really brought things to a manic pace and spawned a mosh pit in the center floor.

BabyMetal draws a blend of ages and genres in the audience, with metalhead in black t's and chains as well as cosplay teens mimicking the pop duo, to small kids on the shoulders of their metalhead parents. With a highly visual show, mixed with never slowing dance routines and a pounding metal backup, BabyMetal has created something that is definitely new and energizing.
