Dancing Plague had a Vegas date this month, with Past Self and Three Rounds for this Pulsar Presents show. This was a surprising night, shows usually held on a Wednesday night bring out a smaller crowd, but we got a great showing for Dancing Plague. Three great bands of Darkwave and dancing, and a fun crowd in a great room at SINWAVE.
Kicking off the show was a band I have never seen before, which surprises me, I'm a real punk/new wave fan. Vegas Locals THREE ROUNDS were playing without their keyboard player for this show, but the rest of the band more than made up for it and gave a killer performance. This band grabs your attention and I instantly fell in love with their show. They have a calming effect as you listen to them, their sound is very  atmospheric new wave, you get hints of the Cure and the soaring guitar sounds similar to A Flock of Seagulls. A perfect band to open this show, and we will keep them on our radar to see next time they play locally. More on Three Rounds HERE.
Next up was another Vegas K-Goth band PAST SELF, who I have not seen in a few years. They have been busy touring though, and announced this would be their last show of the year as they take some well deserved time off to recuperate and record some new music. This is a 3 piece group with a Visual Kei influenced post punk sound that matches their dark moody staging.
The two male members, Sung & Spector, were dressed in white shirts, black pants with a red lace ribbon covering their eyes, and the female, who goes by Aether, wore a white dress and red lace ribbon over her eyes while playing synth and singing background vocals. During the middle of the show, Aether walked off the stage and came to the front where a red phone was ringing, as part of the intro to one of their songs, and at the end of the set bassist Spector tossed black roses into the crowd. This is a really good band that really uses the stage and visual aesthetics to create a great show. More on Past Self HERE.
I have never seen the final act of the night, DANCING PLAGUE, who is a one man show by Portland-based artist Conor Knowles. This is dark, moody EBM/goth/electronic music that is also very danceable, and he has a deep voice that fits perfectly to the songs he performed.
Conor used very dark lighting to help with the mood he was setting, as he played synths and danced around the stage, and the majority of the fans in Sinwave were dancing along with him. DP has had several independent releases and now a new album out this year, Elogium, on Avant! Records, and a new song out now "Days of Heaven" that you can check out HERE.
