DIAMOND DAVE KEEPS 'EM SMILING IN LAS VEGAS AT THE FONTAINEBLEAU BLEAULIVE THEATER

David Lee Roth brought his solo escapades to Las Vegas at the BleauLive Theater at the Fontainebleau Hotel and Casino, for a night of fun, frivolity and nostalgia, with a set that encompassed Van Halen hits and faves. Dressed in black leather, Diamond Dave hit the stage running, smiling from ear to ear, swinging into the high energy "Panama" - and everyone was on their feet, screaming the chorus along with him.

"Drop Dead Legs" dropped the pace into a slow rockin' groove, and the crowd was really loving it- such a great set of nostalgic songs Dave made famous and loved with Van Halen in the early days of the band. The set was ALL Van Halen, no Dave solo album tunes, but stuck to expected big VH hits and some real meaty early songs, including "I'm The One", "Mean Street", and "Somebody Get Me A Doctor".

And of course Dave had to talk and joke in between classics, a man never at a loss for words, styling all the while. The master of charisma, Dave still knows how to work a room - a big flirt during "Pretty Woman, and "Beautiful Girls", and really bringing it home with "Ain't Talkin''Bout Love" and "Runnin' With The Devil".

Roth may not possess the same powerful pipes from the past, but he sure does love what he's doing, and seems to have a great time doing it. No sky high jumps anymore, but there was a little limbo magic, and he's still got the dance moves. Backed by a stellar band including guitarist Al Estrada, bassist Ryan Wheeler, drummer Francis Valentino, keyboardist Danny Wagner, and a four-piece backing vocal section, the show is well put together and a helluva good time. Forever the showman, and we love him for it.
