Friday nights in Las Vegas have no shortage of things to do. and tonight the crowd is packing in for a night of metal with Peeling Flesh, Shadow of Intent, The Black Dahlia Murder and Lorna Shore at the Pearl Theater in Las Vegas. With a line up like this, it is easy to see why the fans are in early on the floor early getting their spots along the rail.

First up is Peeling Flesh, and this death metal band from Oklahoma might be newer on the scene but they are developing quite a following with their self described "slamming gangster groove". For having a shorter set they manage to jam in a lot of songs, including cuts from their debut full length 2024 album The G Code, and the crowd is definitely getting warmed up. The floor begins to move with moshing and by the time their set is done the fans are definitely ready for more. More on Peeking Flesh HERE.

After a quick stage turn around Shadow of Intent comes on, and the energy from this deathcore band is undeniable from the start, the strobes flashing from the stage just add to the intensity of the performance.

Frontman Ben Deurr and guitarist Chris Wiseman command the stage, opening with " Prepare to Die", and "Flying the Black Flag" from their new 2025 release Imperium Delirium, and getting the crowd really pumped up for more. "Feeding the Meat Grinder" and "The Heretic Prevails" just cemented the 'delirium' with a wall of death to end the set. More on Shadow of Intent HERE.

The Black Dahlia Murder has been a staple in the heavy metal world for over two decades and it is easy to see why. The set opens with "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse", "Everything Went Black" and classic "Nightbringers", with the stage is bathed in red light, and in addition to the moshing, we begin to see the crowd surfers en masse. As they move through the ten song setlist, you keep guessing what, out of their extensive catalog, is next.

They did include ""Cursed Creator" from their most recent 2024 album Servitute, before more brutal moshing and closing the night with "Funeral Thirst" and "Deathmask Design". The crowd is a combination of exhausted and excited, but there's more to go.

Thankfully there is a little longer set change to catch our breath before Lorna Shore takes the stage. At 9:15 the room goes dark and the curtain drops, revealing Will Ramos (lead vocals) Adam DeMicco (lead guitar) Austin Archey (drums) Andrew O'Connor (rhythm guitar) Michael Yager (bass), opening with "Oblivion" from their new record I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me.

This deathcore band has been doing this since 2009 and they have developed a loyal following and they really know how to put on a show - the stage has heavy smoke and alternates between bright light and almost total darkness with a giant video screen projecting images that go along with the music. By the third song "Out of theAbyss" the security is really getting a workout catching all the crowd surfers, and that doesn’t slow down all night. The nine song set includes fan favorites "Cursed to Die", "Prison of the Flesh" and "To The Hellfire", and just when the crowd thinks it is over, there is a three song encore with the "Pain Remains" I, II and III. It is a great way to end a savage set.

It seems like almost every fan in the crowd had either been in the mosh pit, participated in the wall of death or crowd surfed to the front. Everyone had an amazing time and these are certainly bands you should see - the tour continues through the end of October in the US, then more dates until the end of the year.
