SPRING LOCALS SHOWCASE SPONSORED BY 93.1 THE MOUNTAIN ON 1ST STREET STAGE AT FREMONT STREET LV

On Friday night May 9th Vegas radio station 93.1, The Mountain put on a Locals Showcase on the 1st Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience, where on air personality “Ice” handled the introductions and we were treated to a FREE show by three talented bands.

Starting things off was Southern Utah's NO PROOF, who I have never seen before, but I can tell you I will make every effort to see this band again! Led by dynamic female singer Sarah Jane Birch, along with guitarist Locklin Hammett, bass player Dave Anderson and drummer Michael Westrich, this band really left their mark with me - I was blown away. Sarah Jane Birch is a singer on another level, with one of the best voices I have heard from any band playing on Fremont Street, and gave me chills during some of the songs she sang. The band is currently working on songs for a new CD to be released later this year, so keep this band on your must see list! More on Sarah Jane .

Next was THE GARAGE BOYS who have been together now for 18 years, and I have seen them down on Fremont Street, but it's been a few years. When they started out their set the band's first 20 minutes sounded like pop, radio rock which is something I don’t normally take in, a typical Fremont Street “safe” sounding band. But the band's 2nd half of their set had my full attention, with a song that had that hard Texas rocking sound followed by the song "Millennials" that sounded like something from Blink 182, The next song, that I didn't catch the name of was epic, and right then I knew that this band was something to watch. The Garage Bays are hard to categorize, they have so many different sounds, and are a great band with all top notch musicians, and are a staple on Fremont Street - you can catch them down there all year long. More HERE.

Next up was the band THE FAR WORST, and I have seen this band before in the past few years, and this time they had a new lineup which made me even more interested in what they would sound like. The addition of guitarist Andy Ingrahm really brought this band into a whole other level - I have seen Andy playing around Vegas in various projects for many years and always loved his guitar playing. The Far Worst has one of the most talented local female vocalists, Bree Elizabeth - from the first time I saw Bree sing a few years ago, I knew she was something special, and she has stood out in the local music scene. This is a band destined for bigger and better things, and I and by the reaction of the big crowd I would hope Femont Street considers them for a regular rotation. They play quit a bit in the Vegas area, more on The Far Worst HERE.

A big congrats to 93.1 The Mountain for hosting such a great evening of live local music, and we look forward to more. Vegas has a huge local music scene and it's always great to see and hear upcoming bands and support the local music scene. Check out more upcoing events on Fremont Street HERE.
