TAKING BACK SUNDAY 20 YEARS LOUDER NOW with THRICE and SAVES THE DAY at the Pearl Las Vegas

Taking Back Sunday closed out their fall tour with an honorable performance at The Pearl Theater inside the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, the final stop of their major fall tour, with support from Thrice and Saves the Day. It was a night of emo anthems and 90's unmistakable revelry, taking the fans on a reminiscent ride through the past hits and faves, to a packed crowd for the finale show.
Saves the Day started off the fun, Chris Conley front and center leading a punk pop set that with“Anywhere With You” and "Through Being Cool" for a nostalgic start... A lot of oldies, but the band has a new single "Invader" that was a hit in the set. Adam Lazzara surprised everyone as he joined onstage for their final "At Your Funeral", sharing vocals with Conley for a real reunion feel. More on Saves the Day HERE.
Thrice brought a more aggressive vibe for their heavily retro set, the guitar duality from Dustin Kensrue and Teppei Teranishi firing, Eddie Breckenridge and Riley Breckenridge keeping the songs tight and pounding. Starting with "Of Dust and Nations" the crowd sand along with Kensrue, and a set that drew mainly from classic Vheissu and The Artist in the Ambulance, but had some new tunes in the mix. Thrice released Horizons/West late last year (Epitaph Records) their 12th album and with a new intensity on "Holding On" and the punch of "Gnash" for the final song. More on the new album and Thrice HERE.
Taking Back Sunday delivered a standout final show on their fall tour, and took us back all the way to Louder Now to start a long 21 song set with "What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost" and "Liar". The nonstop touring in the last year celebrated the album’s twentieth anniversary, with faves and classics as well from their 25 year run.
Adam Lazzara sounded fantastic and was throwing the mic and swinging with it, the dual guitar work from both John Nolan and Fred Mascherino hit, (as well as guitarist Nathan Coogan, bassist Shaun Cooper, and guitarist Arin Bali from Saves the Day who joined the opening number) and the set really started with a bang. The loaded line up really added to the older songs, and was really special to see Nolan and Moascherino together. The fans sang so loud it was like one big roar for "You're So Last Summer" and "Cute Without the E" from Tell All Your Friends, right up through later "S"Old" and "The One".
There has been some inconsistency in past Taking Back Sunday's live shows, but the tour finale was a raging success, Lazzara really commanded the stage and the band was on fire. The energy radiated throughout the room and the performance connected with the sea of fans, creating a massive night of sing - a longs and nostalgia. Lazzara had said early on stage that there would be no encore, they just wanted to play as many songs as possible, and the looooong set stayed strong and solid until the finale of "MakeDamnSure" that brought down the house.
The show was a perfect night of emo madness, with all three bands hitting on all cylinders for a helluva tour ending. Taking Back Sunday released the Louder Now 20th Anniversary Edition this month to anchor this celebration tour, amore on the band and music HERE.
