THE WHO : The Song Is 'Almost" Over in Las Vegas with Billy Idol

The Song is Over is the theme for the current and so-called final tour for The Who, who made a second to last stop in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sun 9/28/2025.

Billy Idol was a perfect support act for this show, and Billy played a great set as always, with his longtime bandmate & guitarist Steve Stevens excelling fabulously on lead guitar.

The Who have had a career of over 60 yrs led by surviving members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend ,and proved they were still in fine form with a show of over 2 hours, playing most of their classic hits, and sounding great.

I have seen The Who numerous times in concert dating back to 1979, and they have always been one of my favorite bands. They opened the concert with "I Can't Explain", and featured other legendary hits like "Who Are You", "Pinball Wizard", "Behind Blue Eyes", "My Generation", "Baba O'Reilly" & "Won't Get Fooled Again".

They also paid tribute to their former members Keith Moon and John Entwistle, who were the classic Rhythm section during most of their career. They mentioned that Las Vegas was always a special place, and where John Entwistle unfortunately passed away while here in Las Vegas in 2002.

Pete did some of his usual windmill arms strums on his guitar, and Roger with his swinging of the microphone are always great to watch, though as being in their 80's they were just a little less risqué. They also spared the destruction of the instruments, which they were known for early in their career.

The Who's backing band was comprised of Pete's brother Simon Townsend on additional guitar & vocals, Scott Devours on drums, Jon Button on bass, Loren Gold on keyboards, John Hogg on backing vocals, Jody Linscott on percussion and Katy Jacoby on violin.
