TWIN TEMPLE : THE FALLEN ANGELS TEASE AND TAUNT IN THE CITY OF SIN

Twin Temple brought a little more sin to the city, with the Fallen Angels Tour at 24Oxford at the Virgin (no pun) Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, with a teasingly devilish night of rockabilly goth and stylishly swinging songs reminiscent of the 50's and 60's... except with a little extra Satan on the shoulder.

The band was formed by couple Alexandra and Zachary James, who mixes the devil and smoky bebop for a truly provocative sound and show. The set started off par for the spirit with "The Devil Didn't Make Me Do It" and then "Be A Slut" from their 2023 album God Is Dead , and the crowd was dancing and swinging along. Alexandra tantalized the crowd with her sultry voice on "I'm Wicked", reminiscent of Winehouse's bluesy vibe, but then... Satan.

What sets this rockabillly duo apart from just a musical experience is the constant joking and banter between the two, a damn near comedic performance in itself. They are FUN. And they have fun with the crowd too, Alexandra looking out and yelling "Jesus? Is that JESUS? What are you doing here?" at a costumed fan, before breaking into "Let's Have A Satanic Orgy". So there.

There were also a couple instrumental numbers that showed off Zachary's guitar yielding retro prowess, along with a fabulous backing band and saxophonist that really made for a rounded jazzy big band edge. The duo also played a few songs acoustically, switching up to an intimate feel and chatting along with the crowd. The set ended with single "God is Dead", a wowser ending to a smokingly infernal set.

The James gang has touted their love of Satan as well as "golden oldies", claiming to be Satanists and practitioners of magick, and have had to deal with a bit of hate served cold. But Twin Temple have the talent, tunes and the stage show to pull it all off and keep a multitude of devoted fans, despite some past bible throwing. How much is shtick, how much is culture... you decide.
