VANS WARPED TOUR 2018: FINAL EDITION in Las Vegas at the DTLVEC

This was the final run of the Vans Warped Tour and this year it was held at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center - they blocked off parts of downtown and held this iconic festival half in the street and half in the concert center. Vans Warped used 6 different stages, and the main stage was in the events center and was split in half, so that bands could keep playing while the other side broke down for the next band. There was a small stage just inside the entrance, another where the food court used to be and two more at the end of the street opposite of each other. This was not a bad setup except for the fact that with all the vendors and band tents in the side street, it cramped that area and made it hard to get up or down it to the different stages, and with 12,000 fansthere made for a very cramped, hot day. The temp outside was 105 that day much better than last years 117!!!! The biggest complaints were the lines for water and not enough food choices, but on to the show...

The bands starting hitting the stage at 11:30am and went off every 30 minutes across 6 stages, you really had to plan out your day to catch your favorite bands!! With over 50 bands playing this day 30 minute sets were just right, and this also made the day fly by as you were constantly on the move to beat the crowd to the next stage.

The band who received the biggest reaction from the crowd was Black Veil Brides who have a large following of mostly female fans. Motionless In White packed their stage eliciting screams from adoring female fans. The Used also drew a huge response from the main stage from the massive crowd. Reel Big Fish had the crowd dancing with their ska, punk sound... there were bands from all over the globe and one such band we caught was Australia’s Tonight Alive who put on a great set.

The harder bands played on the Mutant Red Stage and Mutant White Lighting Stage where we caught bands such as Kublai Kahn, Ice Nine Kills , Chelsea Grin and Harms Way. As the sun started to set and the crowd getting some much needed relief from the blazing sun, the final bands played out the show with Twiztid, State Champs, Falling In Reverse, In Hearts Wake, Crash Atlantic and Almost Awake all closing out their selected stages.

The final Vans Warped Tour came to a close, with the sun drenched fans headed towards the exit to some much need air conditioning, while the crews hurriedly broke down the tents and staging as the next day the tour moves on to Salt Lake City. This festival helped break many young and upcoming bands, and it's sad to see the decade of Vans Warped end.
