ACTORS with PITCH AFTER DARK and LEATHERS at the SWAN DIVE in LAS VEGAS

When this show was announced about 6 months ago, I could not wait until the day finally would come when the Canadian post punk band ACTORS would play at my favorite club venue, Swan Dive in Las Vegas. From the day I first listened to this band they have been in my daily rotation of songs I listen to everywhere I go. Swan Dive is such a cool venue located in the Arts District and is on the top floor of a large 2 story building with an outdoor patio area overlooking the happenings going on the main street of the Arts District.

Actors is my favorite band I am currently listening to, and I was thrilled to see that LEATHERS was opening the show. Leathers is the solo project of Actors keyboardist Shannon Hemmett, who signed a deal with Artoffact Records and released the CD titled Ultraviolet . Joining Shannon onstage was Actors drummer Adam Fink who keeps such a steady beat and really adds to Shannon’s live performances. Shannon's songs are low key, synth and elicit different moods while seeing her live, and it is very apparent that the sound of Actors heavily influences her sound. I for one really loved her set and she played every song off Ultraviolet except for "Phantom Heart". A perfect way to begin the night's show, check her out and what she is up to HERE

PITCH AFTER DARK is a post punk / goth band from Las Vegas who I had never seen before, and they totally blew me away with their synth, goth, darkwave sound The band consists of Gray Rayne on Synth, Pari Dark on vocals & lead guitar, Mortex on drums, Dela Noche on rhythm guitar, and Jericho AYGC on bass. This band's sound is incredible, and if you closed your eyes during certain songs you would swear you were at a Cure concert.

I knew this band would become one of my local favorites when vocalist Pari Dark told the crowd that the Sisters of Mercy was one of his favorite bands. I could hardly believe it was time for ACTORS! Everything about this band is perfect, catchy songs, great musicians and they really seemed to love what they do. The band's sound is synth driven, new waveish, and 80’s pop. The band has Jason Corbett on guitar and vocals, Shannon Hemmett on synth and vocals, Kendall Wooding on bass and vocals and Adam Fink on drums. One of the things I love most about this band is the vocals of Jason, his voice is amazing and grabs you the moment you hear him sing. Kendall is a killer bass player, and with Adam on drums they really hold down the beat for this band. The band opened their set with the song "L’appel du Vide" which gave me chills hearing this song live. One of my favorite songs was “Object Of Desire” which you can catch right HERE. You can’t help but sing along to this catchy tune. The band closed out their show with another catchy song, "Face Meets Glass", for a great finale.

Jason promised the crowd that they would be working on a new CD if they ever get off the road, and I for one would love to hear it. Actors more than lived up to what I expected from their show - In fact all the bands were better than I expected, it was really a fantastic night.
