Armored Saint set a blistering pace as they opened the first date of the WASP 40th Anniversary Tour in Las Vegas to a SOLD OUT crowd at the House of Blues, and fans came early to catch every minute of their opening set. The club was packed from front to back as AS took the stage for a ferocious night of metal, and the likewise 40 year veterans of the metal genre well on top of their game.
Armored Saint (John Bush, brothers Phil and Gonzo Sandova, Joey Vera, and Jeff Duncan) opened with ‘Reign of Fire” from the Saints of Salvation (rereleased in 2022 as a live CD/CVD set), and into “End of the Attention Span “ from the newest and eighth album from the band, 2020’s Punching the Sky. The crowd was fired
up the head banging the entire set, which ranged from that latest release and reached all the way back to the band’s early years to finish with “Can U Deliver “ and “March of the Saints”, with career spanning songs in between. The 50 minute set was a hard hitting intro for the main attraction to follow, and Armored Saint was a great choice for a “double” 40th anniversary celebration.
In Addition to the live release of Saints of Salvation in 2022, Armored Saint returned to Metal Blade Records to re-release three defining albums this year, 1984's March Of The Saint, 1985's Delirious Nomad, and 1987's Raising Fear. "What better way to acknowledge the 40th anniversary of Armored Saint's first shows ever than to re-release the first three albums that came out on Chrysalis Records, now on Metal Blade records," says vocalist John Bush.
"With new liner notes and never-before-seen photo's, these albums will keep you entertained for all of 2022!”* Guitarist Jeff Duncan states, "These are the albums that put the band on the map. It's truly awesome to be celebrating 40 years of Armored Saint!" *And what better way to deliver these live than supporting the 40th Anniversary WASP tour!!
The Vegas show was just the beginning of the 40th Anniversary Tour, with dates running into December and selling out fast. ARMORED SAINT bassist Joey Vera said: "40 years ago, we stepped onstage in Hollywood and shared the wild club experience with W.A.S.P. In 1983, both bands had a hand in bringing this new genre, heavy metal, to Los Angeles."** And now both bands are bringing that early excitement back. More on tickets and tour dates HERE !
