BOY HARSHER BREAKING HEARTS IN LAS VEGAS AT THE HOBLV WITH TRUE BLUE AND KASSIE KRUT

The Heart Break Tour with Boy Harsher brought out the masses in Las Vegas, for a sold out show at the House of Blues and a dance party hard to beat. It is great to see this talented duo playing again in Vegas and the success they have attained.
The show also featured New York based Kassie Krut, an experimental electronic trio formed by former members of the band Palm (Kasra Kurt and Eve Alpert) alongside producer Matt Anderegg. This side project gave Kurt more room to experiment with electronic beats and the sound has an industrial syncopated feel.
Eve has a very low and soft voice, and the ethereal sound mixed with avant garde dance beats was interesting and a great start to the party like atmosphere and got the dancing going with "Hooh Beat". The band has re-released an expanded version of their debut EP, and includes a remix of breakout single "Reckless", that wrapped up their set. More on the band and music HERE.
TRUE BLUE is an experimental 'evoca-pop' solo project of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Maya Laner, who is also bassist for the synth-pop band Porches. The sound and vibe is dreamy and soft meets stark and sharp pop, and ties in fashion influence and elements into the show, making it seem one part song and one part live photo shoot.
TRUE BLUE's highly anticipated debut album, Star Witness, was released through her own independent True Nature (alongside Ending Music) late last year, and found a dedicated indie fan base, and established Maya as a distinct, solo artist apart from her work with Porches. The set included art pop "Cherry Colored Funk" and "I Wanna Believe" and the crowd really responded to the tracks and the playful vibe. A fun set to see live and a perfect fit for this tour. Boy Harsher brought the venue into full darkwave dance - the air was electric and the sold out crowd reacted immediately to the pulsing synth pop of "Ronny" from the new album Get Mean, a soft electronic song showcasing Jae Matthews breathy and ethereal vocals. The smokey, dark, hypnotic feel from the lights and the music set a sensual tone, and Matthews and instrumentalist Augustus Muller played through a set that stayed close to the new record, but included the breakout underground anthem "Pain", as well as "Fate" and "Come Closer" from the Careful era,
Matthews spoke to the crowd saying ,”We make dance music, so if you are here we expect you to dance” - and the crowd try to deliver, although the floor was so densely crowded it was hard to fully enjoy the show and move freely. That was the only downfall, the selected tracks and the performance was perfection, and the crowd went insane for “Come Closer”, a big dance number of the night, as well as the encore of "Pain".

Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller have been shaping the electronic underground for over a decade as icons on the modern underground music scene, and after years operating DIY, officially signed to Atlantic Records and released their third album Get Mean this year - transitioning from underground cult status to a major electronic force. The album also reflects the hardships and challenges of their ending romantic relationship, and the road ahead. It also shows a distinct trend toward a more commercial success for the pair, and standout tracks "Hard Beat", "Jeans", "Tough Luck (When You Don't Call)", all made an impact in the set.
The duo also have a full length film in the works (not their first) with The Lonely Woman, that was written and scored by them. The horror thriller features Chloe Sevigny Will Oldham, and Jake Weary among others, and is slated for a release late this fall. More on Boy Harsher HERE and YouTube HERE.
