CROWBAR - EYEHATEGOD - PAPSMEAR at FREMONT COUNTRY CLUB LV

Crowbar and EyeHateGod returned to Vegas, with a packed show at the Fremont Country Club and support from Vegas' Papsmear. This show was originally going to be held at the rebranded Bizarre Bar (old Swan Dive) but due to larger than expected ticket sales this show was moved to the larger Fremont Country Club in Downtown Las Vegas for a mobbed venue ready for a metal night of music.
Kicking off the show was local legendary hardcore boys PAPSMEAR, a 4 piece heavy thrash band that has been playing around Vegas for nearly 40 years. The band came out like a freight train and just crushed it on their opening song and throughout their short but powerful hardcore set. After all the years Papsmear is a force to be reckoned with, and a band you should check out if you love thrash type music. More on Papsmear HERE
EYEHATEGOD reigned on the Vegas FCC stage, a sludge metal band from NOLA who is a crowd favorite in Vega, and they received a huge response wih "Take As Needed for Pain". This band too has been around for nearly 40 years, which is kind of hard to believe as they sound as fresh and strong as ever. During the band's set it was non stop moshing and diving, the crowd stayed out of control and in the air.
As the band wound down their set they asked if the crowd wanted a couple more songs which of course elicited a loud roar. EHG closed out their set with "Sisterfucker" and vocalist Mike Williams thanked the crowd, and told them they 'would never see them again”. Not sure if he was joking or not, but nonetheless a weird way to end a memorable and fierce show. Catch up on all Eyehategod HERE
It’s been a few years since I last saw CROWBAR, but as always it was great to see them back in Vegas and playing at the FCC. Formed back in 1990 the band consists of Kirk Windstein on vocals and guitar, Tommy Buckly on drums, Pat Bruders on bass and Matt Brunson on guitars, and is one of the best sludge metal bands out there.
From the first strains of "...And Suffer as One" a large mosh pit opened up right in front of the stage as fans found it hard to contain themselves. Kurt Windstein has a real gravely voice which fits the band's sludgy sound perfectly. One of the highlights of the set was "Planets Collide" which blew me away, and they followed that up going way back with "Existence is Punishment" The band closed out their 12 song set with "All I Had (I Gave)" to a dull never ending roar. The tour has more US dates through mid April - stay up on all things happening with Crowbar HERE

What a killer show in a intimate setting. We need more shows like this one at that venue....
