LAS VEGAS MUSIC SCENE HAS A HEART
TO BENEFIT ST JUDES CHILDREN'S RANCH AT THE USUAL PLACE

The Las Vegas Music Scene Has A Heart held a fundraiser to benifit St. Judes Children's Ranch in May, and It’s been a couple years since LVMSHAH has held a fundraiser, but like all the others this was a great one. So many people and businesses donated their time to help make this event a success, and the event was held at a popular rock n roll venue just below Fremont Street called The USUAL PLACE, with a great stage, sound and bar. There was plenty of seating at high top tables for anyone who wanted a place to kick back and enjoy the bands, and If you wanted to score some rock memorabilia, then this was the place to be. There were gems signed by KISS, SCORPIONS, SLIPKNOT - signed guitars, KISS books, gift bags, lots of fantastic photos, vinyl records, cd’s, and many many more items, with both a silent auction and a raffle plus, throughout the event free t-shirts and cd’s were tossed out into the crowd.
This time around the master of ceremonies was none other than drummer Troy Patrick Farrell, who did an amazing job announcing the bands and helping with the raffle. There was a diverse lineup of live talent at this event, starting off with an acoustic set by CHASE GRIJALVA who I have never seen before but am a huge fan now.
Long time local band THE BONES had one of my favorite guitar players sitting in at this show, the incredible Stoney Curtis. The Bones are a talented band that plays covers from such as Abba, Devo, The Go Go’s and more. You can check out everything about The Bones right HERE.
Next was a band I totally love, because they play old school Judas Priest material and are called HIGH PRIEST. The highlight for me was them playing the song "Sinner", which brings back so many memories of listening to that song over and over.
D’ANGELED is a hard rocking band that is on the rise, a band I actually have seen every show they have played in Vegas since getting together as a band, The progress this band has made since their first show is really cool to see. The band is getting ready to go into the studio and work on their 1st CD, and can't wait to see what they produce. You can check out everything D’Angeled right here - http://www.dangeledmusic.com .
When I first heard who the headliner was going to be, I went straight to youtube and started watching everything I could find about this band. CASCADE EFFECT is a metal band out of San Diego, California that played this event at their own expense - that's right, they came all the way here and donated their time for this worthy charity event. The band just released a new song titled “God Particle” which you can hear right HERE. To find out everything about Cascade Effect go to their website HERE.
The local music scene here has always been very charitable when events like this are put together, and there is one person who has been the driving force behind so many events like this through the years, and that is Nicki Heirs, aka 'Metal Momma'. She works tirelessly and not only donates her time but also money, chasing down bands, raffle items and on and on. A woman with a heart of gold and a true friend of mine. This Las Vegas Scene Has A Heart Fundraiser was a fantastic success, and we thank Nicki as always for organizing and driving these events, and for raising money for ST. Judes.

Thank you so much for the article and taking time to cover this event. We had an incredible time performing and met so many great people. The Las Vegas Metal Scene does indeed have a heart.
I have personally been to many of the local music charity events and it really is amazing how many local and national musicians step up and volunteer their time and signed items. I am also thrilled to see that you guys took the time to cover this event so people can see it's not all glitz and glam here but people who live here who care about their community. Great job on covering this event. I was told about this site by a friend and I had to express my feelings...soory for the long rant but Vegas is a town with a heart of gold...
