The last time I saw NORTHLANE they were opening up for Parkway Drive here in Vegas, and they really left an impression on me. I was excited when I saw they were coming back to Vegas, but this time as the headliner, and looked forward to hearing more from this Australian metalcore band and a longer set. The Monday night fans at House of Blues in Las Vegas were treated to a solid night of hard metal, with fellow Aussie's Windwaker and Like Moths to Flames in tow.
WINDWAKER got their name from the video game (The Legend of Zelda), hails from Melbourne, Australia and have been together since 2014. Like all the Australian bands I've heard this band is solid, and delivered an impressive set and connected, noted especially since this was their first time here. Lead vocalist Liam Guinane did his best to engage with the crowd, asking everyone to come as close to the stage, as they had a short but powered set. The band's released their most recent album HYPERVIOLENCE in 2025, and check out more music, merch and everything WINDWAKER HERE.
LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES a band from Columbus Ohio and apparently know this town from past performances - Lead singer Chris Rotter said that playing on the Las Vegas strip is a bit fancy for them, and joked they didn't feel comfortable in this nice environment at the HOB but preferred when his band played the old VFW hall in Henderson, which got a roar of approval from the fans. Chris talked and joked with the crowd got them to jump and go crazy, and put their fucking hands in the air.
This band has lots of energy with Rotter moving non stop back and forth across the stage, and I felt like I was in a track meet from in photo pit trying to keep up with him! The band opened up their set with the brutal song "Over the Garden Wall" - check it out HERE. I loved the energy from this band, and you can catch more on the band HERE.
NORTHLANE hail all the way from Sydney, these guys have been at it since 2009 and I was glad to see them headlining this US tour. These guys have won many Australian Aria Music Awards including Best Rock or Heavy Metal Album, and have been making their own impact in the states.
Last time I saw lead vocalist Marcus Bridge, he had longer hair and a beard, but this show was cleaned up with a shorter look. Behind the band they played videos to each song which gave their show a big time feel, and the band lived up to the challenge. Northlane opened the show with the 2022 song "Carbonized" that got the crowd moving, followed by "Miasma" from recent release, 2024 Mirror's Edge, that got the mosh started - the song is hard to stand still too, and one of the best they perform. What I LOVE about Marcus is that as a vocalist he can go from full on bloody scream to soft vocals in a split second.
Near the middle of their set Marcus asked the crowd to split the room down the middle and you know what that meant - Wall Of Death time at the HOB. This was insane because the floor at the HOB is not that big, but the wall came down and the fans were loving it. As the band wound down their set, Marcus asked the crowd if they could play a couple old ones (like they would say no lol). First was "Afterimage", followed by their biggest hit and the song that drew me to this band, "Clockwork" that really set a fire in the fans. I LOVE this band and am thrilled at their rise and success, and I hope the make their way back to the states and headline Vegas again. You can catch everything Northlane HERE
