OUR LADY PEACE 30th ANNIVERSARY TOUR with THE VERVE PIPE HOBLV

The minute I stepped in the House of Blues in Las Vegas you could tell this was not your typical crowd. Fans of 90’s music are now in their 40s and up, and this show was all about 90’s nostalgia - but these two bands were not resting on that nostalgia, the both gave a phenominal show and continue to put out new music.

THE VERVE PIPE brought out a crowd of deeply connected fans who remembered their songs when they were the younger generation listening to the radio. The band wasted no time getting started with the 1996 song "Photograph". Immediately phones went up, with fans capturing this special moment and everyone started singing along with the band. This was one of those magical moments where the band and crowd become one.

Vocalist Brian Vander Ark led the band through hits including "Cup Of Tea" and "Villains". "Dust" from the bands 2025 release Reconciled made the set, and although The Verve Pipe's set was rather short with eight songs, it was impressive, the highlight for many "The Freshman", and the crowd erupted into a loud cheer before finishing the set with a cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun".

The Verve Pipe are tight and as a band really play well together, with founders Brian and Brad Vander Ark (who rejoined the band in 2025 and recorded on Reconciled), with Channing Lee, Lou Musa, and Daine Hammerle rounding up the lineup now. You can stay up to date on The Verve Pipe HERE

OUR LADY PEACE celebrates 30 years together with this tour, and 30 years creating a sound that's unique to just them. have seen OLP a few times in the past, and have loved each and every show. "Starseed" and "Naveed" off their debut record made me a fan of the band forever, and this set featured songs from the debut through their most recent 2021 release Spiritual Machines 2. The band has a OLP30 LIVE EP out now, chronicling their career on vinyl with live performances from their 2025 tour.

OLP opened with the 2024 single, "Sound the Alarm" followed by "One Man Army", and the fans sang along. As the band rolled through the set, vocalist Raine Maida told the crowd that the inspiration for Spiritual Machines was a book by futurist and AI expert Ray Kurzweil, and that what Ray wrote in that book has come true, and that was the inspiration for the Spiritual concept albums. But Raine stated that AI will never replace a real concert and that people really need this in their lives.

One of the highlights of the show was hearing "Not Enough",  that included a brief jam by the band, before the hits started rolling with "Somewhere Out There", "4am" and "Clumsy". Raine also battled food poisoning on this night, and jokingly told the crowd, “Don’t eat the chicken fingers", but the show must go on. After a brief break the band returned for the finale two songs "Automatic Flowers" and my personal all time favorite," Starseed".

Our Lady Peace is still at it's finest and it has been a fantastic 30 years, and here's to wishing them another 30 more. The tour has just gotten off to a hearty start, and continues through dates in October. Check out their new music, and more on Our Lady Peace HERE.
